My friend Debs, and I had an awesome chance of exploring the cities northwest of Luzon, Vigan and Laoag, including municipalities like Paoay, Burgos, Bangui and Pagudpud. It was our first backpacking adventure together and no matter how tired we were after considering the long bus and tricycle rides (until now, actually zzz), it was one travel experience that was very much worth it.
We spent three days away from Manila to explore as much places as we could, but you know, three days won’t really be enough to see all. Here are some of the places we’ve seen though – touristy or not.
Vigan, Ilocos Sur
(Calle Crisologo, Baluarte ni Chavit, Vigan Empanada, Pinakbet with Bagnet)
(Paoay Lake and Sand Dunes, San Agustin Church of Paoay, Kuya Bobet – our kind tour guide, Saud Beach in Pagudpud, Fishy Rolls, Pagudpud Marker, Bangui Windmills, Burgos Protected Fish Sanctuary, Debs with Kuya Jason (you can contact him at 09186872603/09053033915) who took us on a Pagudpud South tour)
For this trip, we spent around 3,000PHP each (food, accommodation, transportation and everything else). Since we were pressed for time and it was so hot by the way, we weren’t able to go around as much — we just bummed. It was a fun trip, nevertheless! Can’t wait to go on another backpacking adventure with you, Debs!
My next stop? Davao City next week! It’s for work though, but let’s see if I could squeeze in a bit of sightseeing for the second time.
Until next time.
